How it works

Here’s how it works.

Three steps, all online. You start with one visit for $99.

A woman with short silver hair relaxes in a garden chair with a drink, looking up at the trees.

All online

Every visit happens by video, from wherever you are.

  1. Step 01

A first visit that is actually about you

A one-on-one video visit covering your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, and what you want to feel like again.

  2. Step 02

Labs that show where your hormones are

If your provider thinks it will help, a hormone panel adds lab results to what you have told them about your symptoms.

Not everyone needs this step. When testing helps

  3. Step 03

A plan that changes as you do

If your provider finds treatment is right for you, your plan can include hormone prescriptions, lifestyle changes, and optional supplements.

Then 2–3 follow-ups with a doctor, and text check-ins through HIPAA-compliant messaging once your plan is set. How check-ins work

Safety

Is hormone therapy safe? What changed, and what didn’t.

2002

A large study, the Women’s Health Initiative, was widely reported as linking hormone therapy to breast cancer, heart disease and dementia. Boxed warnings followed, and many women were taken off hormones.

2025

In November 2025, after reviewing newer evidence, the FDA announced it is starting to remove the boxed warnings about heart disease, breast cancer and probable dementia from menopausal hormone therapy products.

Read the FDA announcement (opens in a new tab)

What did not change

  • The boxed warning about endometrial cancer stays on systemic estrogen-only products.
  • The FDA’s labeling will recommend starting systemic hormone therapy within 10 years of menopause, or before age 60.
  • Hormone therapy still has risks and is not right for everyone. Your provider reviews your personal and family history before recommending it.

Questions

Questions women ask us first.

Something else on your mind?

Call (760) 542-8898
What does it cost?

Your first visit is $99. One month after that visit, membership begins at $49 a month. Prescriptions and lab tests are priced separately; lab prices depend on what is tested.

Do I need the membership?

Yes. Membership is required for refills and ongoing care. It renews every month until you cancel.

How do I cancel?

Your first visit: cancel at least 24 hours ahead for a full refund. Cancel later than that, or miss the visit, and the $99 isn't refunded, but you can still reschedule. Membership: cancel any time online at goldenleafhc.com/cancel, by phone at (760) 542-8898, or by email at info@goldenleafhc.com. Your care continues until the end of the month you've paid for. Membership payments already made are not refunded, except for billing mistakes or other exceptional circumstances. Once it ends, we can no longer provide refills or ongoing care. To come back within 3 months, you pick up at $49 a month; after that, you start again with a $99 visit.

What happens at the first visit?

A one-on-one video visit about your symptoms, history and goals. From there your provider may order a hormone panel. If treatment is right for you, they build your plan with you and follow up as things change.

What happens after the first visit?

You have 2–3 follow-up visits with a doctor to fine-tune your plan, included in your membership. Once your plan is set, your care team checks in by text, using HIPAA-compliant text messaging software. You can message them any time, and they reply the same business day, or let you know if they need more time to look into something. For a medical emergency, call 911.

Do I need a lab test?

Your doctor will go over at your first visit whether lab testing is needed to begin treatment. If you start treatment, lab tests are done periodically to monitor how it is working.

Do I have to be in menopause already?

No. Perimenopause often starts in your 40s, and symptoms can begin years before your periods stop. You do not need a diagnosis to book.

What is bioidentical hormone therapy?

Hormones with the same molecular structure as the ones your body makes, such as estradiol and progesterone. Some are FDA-approved products and some are compounded by a pharmacy. Your provider will explain which fits you and why.

Do you take insurance or HSA/FSA?

We don't take insurance. We do accept FSA and HSA payments.
